This and That

The writings under this menu are written by me, but not necessarily my thoughts.  In fact, most will be what I have learned from other people.  Yet, while you read, remember to sort the information according as you prove it by Christ and His Word.  Scott

Trusting Alone

Luke 18:13 “But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

The goal of our enemy will always be to destroy our faith in Jesus Christ. This is what he works at continually, and often we partner with him unknowingly, because of the reasonable sound in what he points out to us. He will show us both the good and bad in our actions, and then try to get us to believing God is also looking at the same actions and making a judgment for or against us. Of course, it only looks right to think God looks on the good with a smile and the bad with a frown. Since many, if not all, want to please God, and we imagine Him smiling on our good, we try harder to perform more good. The result is very similar with the bad we have done. The perceived frown from God causes us to try harder to leave the bad and perform more good. In both situations, looking to Jesus is not held out to us as a solution by Satan. When we can humble ourselves in such a way as to acknowledge neither the good brings favor nor the bad bringing disfavor, but trusting in Jesus for our righteousness being what pleases God, we will be exalted as one of His children.

Mark 9:24 “Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!”
